Why Steelers Packers Super Bowl Matters for Patriots Fans

Bigbentbtwelve

As the Steelers and the Packers take the field today for their Super Bowl match up, Patriots fans are still reeling from the shocking loss to the hated Jets. Most will probably watch the game with little to no interest, other than the commercials, the half-time show and of course, the food.

However, I urge Patriots Nation to pay close attention to this game and root for, dare I say, the Packers.

Here's why.

Ben Roethlisberger is one ring away from joining Tom Brady on a very short list of QBs with three pieces of expensive NFL jewelry. If Roethlisberger wins tonight, should he be considered one of the greatest QBs of all time? Should we move away from the Brady/Peyton Manning conversations and replace Manning with Ben Roethlisberger?

If you look at the stats, you'll say no.

Brady's career passer rating is 95.2, while Roethlisberger's is 92.5. Brady has had eight 300-completion seasons while Big Ben has had one. Let's also not forget the 2007 record-setting season that Brady had and his various award accolades, including MVP, AP honors and the like.

However, when it comes to success, couch jockeys will often talk about Super Bowl rings. That seems to always be the barometer to which success is used in the NFL.

So Patriots Nation, get your Cheese Heads ready and start screaming, "GO PACK GO!" just around 6:29pm EST. We'll rest a little easier watching Aaron Rodgers hoisting the Lombardi Trophy above his head as opposed to Big Ben.
