So the Burger King Twitter account got hacked and it promoted McDonald's, among other things. There is some indication as to who might be behind it.
That's not the real story here.
The real story is how does a big brand like Burger King get their account hacked?
My guess? A password that was relatively easy for the hacker to figure out.
If you're managing a brand's social presence (either as the agency or on the brand side), you better make sure that your passwords are complex and change on a regular basis.
Use 1Password (or other options) to manage that process in a seamless fashion.
It's not that hard, really. It just takes discipline.
